Born in New Orleans, Tannon learned to play trumpet under Rev. Purcell Church. He then attended Livingston Middle School where he performed in the school’s first marching band. Tannon then attended Mcdonogh 35 High School and performed in their matching band as well. Seeking higher learning, Tannon received scholarships to attend Loyola University in New Orleans where he was 1st chair in both jazz and concert band before receiving a bachelor’s degree in music.
Tannon has performed with Dejan’s Olympia Kids Brass Band, High Steppers Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band, and Soul Rebels Brass Band. He derived the name “Brass-A-Holics ” from his high school days when the drum section at Mcdonogh 35 were featured often, calling themselves the “Funk-A-Holics”. Tannon has traveled the world and performed with many artists but the best has yet to come.
